Hey folks, Harry here... We lost Ricardo Montalbahn relatively recently - and we never got to hold a memorial screening for all of us geeks that loved his films - and most importantly... KHAAAAAAN!!!!! Well, with STAR TREK coming up - we (us folks whats thinks ups this cool shit) decided it would be most excellent if we held a pristine awesome screening of STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN - and if we had a wonderful sneak of some STAR TREK goodness what ain't ever been seen by the eyes of man... even those at ShoWest! That's right. Goodies, KHAN and your fellow Khan lovers - all on hand! Let's kick this event's ass! God I love this movie!!

Fantastic Fest and Ain’t It Cool News present A free screening of STAR TREK 2: THE WRATH OF KHAN With an exclusive sneak preview of 10 minutes of NEVER BEFORE SEEN footage from the new STAR TREK. April 6, 9:50 PM Alamo South Lamar, Austin, Texas Consensus in fan circles is virtually unanimous. The best STAR TREK film to date is the second installment, THE WRATH OF KHAN. Whereas STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE’s bloated budget and plodding pacing flatlined with audiences, KHAN charged out of the gates with an epic revenge duel storyline between an aging and vulnerable Kirk and one of his lifelong enemies, Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalbán). J.J. Abrams comes to Star Trek in much the same way KHAN director Nicholas Meyer did in 1982. Both were not steeped in the legacy of the show before coming to their projects. They also both wanted to be respectful to the tradition, but needed to deliver a fresh reimagining of the franchise to make it relevant to young viewers again. In fact Abrams has named STAR TREK II as one of his main influences for the new film. I say that KHAN is the best of the series... to date. Based on what I have seen thus far, however, I am holding out strong hope that KHAN, the undisputed champ of the STAR TREK movies, will be trumped by Abrams’ reboot. Come find out for yourself on April 6th at 9:50 PM at the Alamo South Lamar when we screen a fully restored 35mm print of STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN and be the first to catch a glimpse of 10 minutes of exclusive NEVER BEFORE SEEN footage from the new film STAR TREK! Fantastic Fest badge holders can RSVP at the Fantastic Fest Facebook Page, the remaining seats will be first come first serve. J.J. Abrams’ STAR TREK opens in theaters everywhere on May 8.
