Alright, well here's another of producer Don Murphy's projects, this time based on that damn good Don Winslow novel, A COOL BREEZE ON THE UNDERGROUND. This is actually one of those scripts I'd be interested in taking a look see at, but it seems that there's a fairly major rewrite in the works at the moment. But here's where things are at the moment.

A COOL BREEZE ON THE UNDERGROUND is based upon the first of the five brilliant detective novels by Don Winslow which feature young detective Neal Carey who is essentially a young Sherlock Holmes who doesn't want to be a detective, he just wants to go to school.
The STORY: Neal Carey is stuck with his junkie single mom when he meets Joe, who is a "Friend of the Family", the Family being a big Boston Bank that does special "favors" for their customers. Joe helps get Neal away from the streets and trains him, ala Fagin in the ways of the true criminal - so that he can be a great detective. "You follow someone by watching their feet; you can' lose them that way" etc. Neal grows and goes to college where is is occasionally called to do favors for the Family. Until the daughter of a Senator goes missing in the London club scene and her father wants her back desperately hoping to cover up some deep, dark secret. Neal, rather reluctantly, is sent to find her and bring her back. The above is the story of the book- - - the script is diverging from this a bit......
The Status: J.D. Zeik (RONIN) a brilliant writer did two drafts and then the decision was made to set this in NY instead of London, so a team of new writers are currently rewriting. Our theme is still the same - SEND A KID TO CATCH A KID.... The production hopes to find the next "LEO" and start a franchise as well as revitalize the detective genre. This is being done for Columbia Pictures.
There you go , Dr. Harry.
