Ahoy, squirts! Quint here! I am, of course, familiar with Shakespeare's KING LEAR (anybody who went to High School in the US has to have at least a passing knowledge of the material), but I don't think I've ever seen it performed, either live or on film.
I bought the Orson Welles version a while back and have it on DVD. It was in my A Movie A Day stack, but I didn't get to it before I ended the column.
So count me interested in seeing Al Pacino take on the King of Britain under the direction of Michael Radford, who previously worked with Pacino on another Shakespeare adaptation: THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. Variety has the story!
I wonder who they'll get for Cordelia... Such a great role. What do you guys think?
