NBC’s “ER,” which has been winning its timeslot all season (thanks no doubt to hot new lead-in “30 Rock”), may be temporarily resuscitated once again. Friday morning’s Variety reports that the medical drama, which was to end its 15-year run on March 12, may get three more episodes appended to its final season -- as part of a deal that would see NBC order six episodes of a new series called “Police.” Both “ER” and “Police” are overseen by writer-producer John Wells. There’s no telling what this means for the looming Ian McShane vehicle “Kings,” which was to take over the longtime “ER” for the balance of the season. Come autumn, the Thursday edition of “The Jay Leno Show” will inherit the 10 p.m. timeslot “ER” has occupied since 1994. Read all of Variety’s story on the matter here.
