Every so often we get one of these articles on the 'State of Marvel Comics Feature Film Properties' in one of the two trades, and this time, it's Michael Fleming's DISH column at Variety. (Click Here To Go Read It!) It's the usual sort of, "We got our shit together" type of piece that is meant to get people excited about Marvel properties. The only real new hopeful tidbits are:
Well, it seems that Gale Anne Hurd is moving forward with THE INCREDIBLE HULK at Universal, but thankfully they are working on a COMPLETELY NEW SCRIPT with Michael France writing the screenplay. NOTE: France is the fella that wrote a STUNNINGLY FANTASTIC Fantastic Four draft that has been... budgeted down a bit since then.
Then there is Raja Gosnell as a possible director for FANTASTIC FOUR. Well, nothing in his filmography so far has me putting any real faith in the man. I still hold this is a PERFECT Zemeckis/Ron Howard/Spielberg property. But hey... Ya know.. I'm dreaming. (and there ain't a damn thing wrong with dreaming every now and again. Hollywood should try it)
The whole Phillip Kaufman/Sam Hamm NAMOR thing is news to me, and man... Ya know, visually I just see it as a real nightmare to shoot. But who knows? COuld be cool.
Lastly the cool exciting prospect to wind the report up was the Animated MIGHTY THOR film concept. Boy I'd love to see that get the whole real deal treatment. Personally, I'd pull for the whole THOR/CRUSHER CREEL 3 comic epic from the old JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY days... Man, that'd rock soooo friggin hard I'd be drying pants for days.
