Todd McFarlane dishes out SPAWN 2 info

Hey folks, Harry here with a story on SPAWN 2. Now, overall I think the first film managed to disappoint quite a few fans. The film's over-reliance on special effects and lack of a strong story or characters made the film unengaging and a bit trivial. But ya know... It did have some badass moments to it that rocked really hard. And as a DVD, I just love going to the key effects sequences, but ya know... After BATMAN AND ROBIN... it felt like genius, but with time... It had a whole hell of a lot it could do to be better. And according to this article in JamMovies, it seems Todd is singing a new story for what is to come.

"The first movie was a PG-13 action movie and the second will be an R-rated suspense drama that will literally have no fantasy elements in it and very minimal special effects. It's going to be an urban legend story and it deals more with dirty cops and a serial killer. It's more of a murder-mystery," McFarlane told Jam! Showbiz.

Well, he's talking the talk, but will the film ultimately walk that talk. I hope so. I've been a fan of the comic, since it started off. My sister is still a HUGE SPAWN fan, collecting all the comics, figures, t-shirts, etc. My favorite stories were always the ones that dealt with the more 'real evils' like a child murderer or a rapist. Not because I like child murderers or rapists, but because you very rarely see superheroes tackling very real 'super-villians'. The type that terrorize a community and hold dreams hostage in exchange for nightmares. I'm hoping New Line and McFarlane can pull it off. But this is a very Missouri type a deal. They'll have to 'show us'. And I wish them the best of luck!
