Then there is this bit about one of the locations for Episodes 2 and 3 of the new Star Wars Trilogy. Now you long term readers, no doubt remember the reports from well over a year and a half about them (Lucasfilm people) having a plan fly them around New Zealand, undoubtedly this was location scouting. But check it out this came from Father McGruder, who kicks ass for the lord!!!
Today, a rumour a film-maker friend told me last week was confirmed on New Zealand television(Good Morning, TV1, at @11:00am). Last week I heard that George Lucas will be filming Episodes Two and Three in New Zealand. At first, I thought it might be a possibility due to Willow being filmed here a few years back, but had no valid reason to believe it.
Also, New Zealand has the reputation of being a less-expensive place to make films, coupled with the great scenery(eg. both Hercules and Xena are both filmed here, as well as Peter's U.S. film The Frighteners). I don't know if this rumour is anymore than that, but if it is, it has definitely gone nation-wide here. If it is true, I'll be trying to get an extra's role for sure!!!
