In the tradition of Dark Crystal and Sandman comes...

Just got this confirmation on the below Gaiman story!!!!

Neil Gaiman is on Compuserve, and the Sci/Fi Fantasy Media Forum even has a section on Neverwhere which Neil frequents (his address is harry_aint_gonna_tell_ya@compuserve.com). Neil himself posted this announcement a couple of weeks ago, and I quote....

"Well, I said you'd read it here first...

The deal has been done for the NEVERWHERE film. I'll be writing it. Denise DiNovi (who produced most of Tim Burton's films, and Heathers and Little Women) will be producing it, Jesse Dylan will be directing it, and Henson Films will be making it (which means we get to use the Creature Shop for rats and the Beast, yay).

We all want this to happen FAST -- with luck and a good headwind we could be shooting it in January... on location.. in London...freezing our noses, ears and fingers off...

I really must write something set in hawaii.

Those cranky old men in the balcony told me the following about Neil Gaiman's next project and how Jim Henson's people will bring it to life. Well it would be DAMN cool if it were to come to pass, but as always with first time spies, one must be leary of their facts and fictions. Sounds true, but the acoustics aren't the best here!

You know Neil Gaiman, of course. The guy behind _Sandman_. The guy Straczynski has been after for four years, and finally got to write a script for B5's next season. The guy who writes good, cool stuff for comics, prose, and screen.

He's writing a movie.

Not just any movie, either. The movie is based on his novel _Neverwhere_, which is the tie-in to the miniseries of the same name he did for TV in the UK last year. It's a dark fantasy set in (and mostly under) London; pretty good stuff. The movie rights were optioned, and Gaiman was brought in to write the script.

What's that? You want to know who's making the movie?

The Jim Henson Company.

Henson and Gaiman. Whaddya think? Ain't it coooooool?
