Are The GEARS OF WAR Finally In Motion??

Merrick here...
A while back, IESB reported that Len Wiseman was angling to direct a movie based on the XBOX 360 video game GEARS OF WAR.
This was around the same time that Wiseman was closing in on the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake (read my review of Ken Nolan's script HERE). EFNY went radio silent and was never heard from again. But talk of GEARS persisted, usually with Wiseman indicated as its unofficial director. Stuart Beattie scripted a draft which was quickly leaked & vivisected on the Internet (you can still find reviews online). Still, the project seemed to be crawling. Now comes word that Wiseman has officially signed on to direct the film. And, it seems, a new writer is being brought in - Chris Morgan (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT, the upcoming FAST AND FURIOUS, and the soon-to-be-released WANTED).
Set on the planet Sera, the game thrusts players into a battle for survival between humans and a race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet known as the Locust Horde. Players assume identities of soldiers on Delta Squad as they fight to save Sera's inhabitants.
