Harry here with an intro to Dan's MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 set report. Ya know... I really want this to be a good movie. So far, they've done a really good job keeping the script on the qt, and I wish them the best of luck in that endeavor. BUT... I really am dying to take a look see. Right now.... In my mind and in reality... John Woo, the coolest filmmaker known to man, is making an incredibly over-the-top (allegedly) action film... HOWEVER... Is it as 'confusing' as the DePalma one? (Personally I thought the plot was straight forward, but it seems many were confused) Poison? Hmmm... Hopefully it will have the tension of THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN (God, I love that movie).... MI2 has been filming around Sydney of late. Last week they were filming at a place called the Rocks. It's very close to the Harbour Bridge.
This week they've been setting up at Bear Island which is not far from were I live. Today they were practices a stunt there which involves a motorcycle jump from the island onto a wooden bridge. Unfortunetly I don't have a digital camera, because what they are doing looks pretty cool. To do the stunt the bike is attached to bungee cables which are themselves attached to horizontal wires. This allows for the bike to move horizontally and to make it safe to land. I'm assuming they are using this system so that Cruise can do the stunt himself. From what I've heard he's done a workshop on riding the bike and will be doing alot of the stunts himself. They did a test run of the stunt and it looked pretty good. The landing looked a little dodgy though. I'm sure it will improve. They have also put in some fake rails on the bridge so it looks like they'll be crashing something off it. There was also and old looking car down there. It may be the car that chases the bike. Unfortunetly I don't have a digital camera so I can't send any pictures.
They looked like they still had some work to do today so I don't think they have started filming anything yet. I didn't see Woo or Cruise there today so maybe they'll be down there tomorow.

By the way on one of the entertainment shows down here they mentioned that the story involved Cruise's character searching for a deadly virus.
