Pixar's John Carter of Mars becoming a reality?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Back when Harry was working on a John Carter project I dove into the Edgar Rice Burroughs series and fell in love with this universe. Bizarre, fantastic, huge... There's a reason they've been trying to make this movie almost since the beginning of the artform. It's a massive undertaking, huge spectacle and it is unlike anything we've seen on the screen even still to this day. It's been known that Pixar has had the rights to John Carter for some time now... we assume it's going to be animated, but Pixar's doing that live-action Brad Bird movie at some point, so could it be live action? We still don't have answers to these questions, but what we do have is our first indication that the project is moving forward. WALL-E's Andrew Stanton let it drop to the Pixar blog that he is developing John Carter of Mars, writing it at this very moment no less. Exciting times. I've been lucky enough to meet Stanton a few times over this last year, all connected to events surrounding Wall-E, and he's a genuine geek, like us. He's the real deal and Wall-E looks like it's going to be a worthy addition to the outstanding Pixar library. This is terrific news!
