This report comes from a spy known as "Caspar". He was on set of WHO AM I? a Jackie Chan opus. And describes a MAJOR stunt in the film. So if you don't want to know, hit your BACK button now. I know some of you like to stay surprised by Jackie's amazing stunts. And it should stay that way, while others want to know. I can't wait to see it myself.
Anyway, I was on the set of WHO AM I? in Rotterdam, and I just wanted to give you a little more info on the stunt that Jackie's people are calling "The Most Dangerous Stunt in the World" (at least until his next movie...
Basically, the stunt, which happens right before the big finale on the bridge, is filmed on the roof of a very tall glass-and-steel building with a particularly cool architectural detail: One of its sides slants down at an angle of approximately 45 degrees...all the way to the sidewalk.
You can probably guess what's gonna happen already, right?
Well, there's a fight sequence on and around the roof between Jackie and the two henchvillains (one of them is Asian, played by a member of his stunt team, and the other a local Dutch guy--a champion kickboxer, but a rotten movie martial artist, 'cuz he kept on *really* kicking Jackie as opposed to stunt-kicking) (well, it was his first time) (but Jackie got extremely pissed!).
Most of the fight is a mad scramble around and leaning over the edge. The sequence is quite long, and should look impressive onscreen. The kicker, of course, is when Jackie chooses to make his escape...by hopping over the edge of the building and sliding down the side of the building, twenty-odd stories, to the ground.
Unfortunately, I missed the actual stunt, because I had to leave for Asia, but...well, I was told later that it kicked ass. :P
Jackie then went to Malaysia to film the opening scene, where he jumps out of a plane, hits his head, and gets amnesia. It's not *supposed* to be Malaysia, it's supposed to be South Africa. But he wanted to land in a jungle...only he didn't realize that South Africa doesn't have any jungles. So, off to Malaysia for a little exotic greenery...
