Chris Columbus (who should be working on Fantastic Four or Daredevil) is busy filming away on STEPMOM with Susan Sarandon, Ed Harris and Julia Roberts. However, our on set spy sent back this report on their exploits on the big set. I'll call this spy... hmmm. So here is Hmmm's report.
As promised, I wanted to write in about my experience as an extra on the set of the new Chris Columbus movie. The movie stars Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris and from what the PA's told me, Sarandon plays a mom who is dying and her kids hate the new woman (Roberts) that her ex-husband (Harris) is married to. Nobody seemed to know if this was a comedy or drama or both. Also, the name, Stepmom, is only temporary as they will test market the hell out of it before they settle on a permanent name.
The scene I was in took place in Saks Fifth Avenue department store. There were about 150 of us and we were basically window dressing for a short scene between Roberts and Harris as they walked and talked down a couple of the aisles. Roberts stayed with "her people" until she was needed on set and showed no interest in being human and meeting or talking to us regular folks. Harris seemed more down to earth, and while I didn't get to talk to him personally, a number of others did and said he was very nice and happy to talk. Chris Columbus, a very nice guy, looks young enough to be in the next Home Alone.
We were there from about 9PM until 2AM and most of that time was rehearsing where we would all walk while Harris and Roberts did their thing.
I'm sorry that I didn't spot anything cool or have any good script stuff for you. It was interesting none the less. If you find anything in here you want to run with, go ahead, but please, as always, I am......
