Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Yep, a new CONAN movie is finally starting move. Sorry to say it has nothing to do with John Milius or his KING CONAN script, but it's exciting nonetheless.
Lionsgate has the rights to Robert E. Howard's infamous character and is now going to officially start it rolling thanks to a team-up with Nu Image/Millenium Films, who financed RAMBO recently with the studio. Word is they're putting $100 million into this sucker.
SAHARA's Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are going to write the screenplay and the aim is to have production begin by the end of the year, pending resolution of the writer's strike. Nu Image/Millenium are currently negotiating with the WGA to work out a deal and rumor has it that Lionsgate is, too.
Here's hoping they keep the core of the character and don't KULL it up. Thoughts?
