THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD!!!!

You know that old saying, "ask and ye shall receive", well good ol Frank Buck who was on safari in New Zealand netted the below picture that I issued a lookout for. Take a look. Isn't that glorius? I want to see this film badly. At the bottom of the page is the reason Peter Jackson should direct it. After you see that, you'll know why he is indeed the geek for the job. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I hope Universal has the good sense to give Jackson the keys to the kingdom to bring Kong to life, to make not only an event picture, but a damn good movie. The mere fact that Jackson set his Kong in 1933 shows that he understands the magic of that period. Also in the middle of all this information you are going to be seeing info on THE HOBBIT/LORD OF THE RINGS and perhaps the real live title... so read on...

This is what big game hunter Frank Buck wrote with the above pic, it describes some of the info the article (from the Wellington Newspaper) had to say. PLUS a cool bit of squatty fur footed ring wearer...

the article says (among other things)- 'A young girl writhing in the palm of a gigantic gorilla, is about to be devoured by a ferocious dinosaur. While two more fighting fiends grapple below.

The model was made for Jackson's King Kong film, put on hold by Universal Pictures in January because of the mid-1998 release date coincided with two other monster movies, Mighty Joe Young, and Godzilla.

Right now Jackson is working on scripts and special effects for his mystery project - rumoured to be the Hobbit - and his lips are sealed until Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein tells it's Publicity time. Jackson thought Miramaxwould have given him the word months ago. "Harvey is an unpredictable chap," he says.' - So there you have it.

On a more personal note I was talking with a (anonymous worker type) who does a lot of work doing stuff for a TV studio here, he/she said she/he had been called to work on a set for a movie at Camperdown Studios (Jacksons establishment) he/she didn't ask what the movie was (doh!) but she/he said it was a circular room with a round door and round windows. A Hobbit hole perhaps !

ACCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKK!!!! Cool cool cool cool!!!! Man, wouldn't you love to just walk around some sort of Hobbit set? I would, I would absolutely cream myself. You KNOOOOW that the furniture and gobblets and plates would be gorgeous. Everything would be immaculate. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, the greatest adventure is what lies....

You know folks, I'm D-Y-I-N-G to find out about this whole Peter Jackson Hobbit/Lord of the Rings/King Kong bit. I've made a call to arms for geeks for this type a' information. And they have been answering. Three separate geek agents. The first here is STING, that glowing long dagger that illuminates a room, and delivers blows, well this time they don't sting, the spy's story has a ring of truth, about which I'll say no more...

I've seen the Kong vs T-Rex piece before.

It looks stunningly cool. The body of the T-Rex was very alligatorish, long and spiny. Probably not too different to those inaccurate Godzilla pics you had the other week. Though it'll look different once the movie gets back on track again I'd say. They were just pre-lims for approval.

Then the next spy Orc the Orkin Man, cleaned out my pests and told me this...

"From what I've heard it's called "Tales of Tolkien" and it will be mostly the Hobbit, but with pieces from other Tolkien stories as well.

(The following is pure speculation) I'd guess less dwarfs, more elves, a lot of Smaug, and the spiders, and Orcs, and Trolls, and Gollum, perhaps a Dark Rider or two, maybe they'll shove in Strider..."

Then secret agent Duke Mantee tough guy-ed out and kicked in teeth to get me this info!!! So read on...

The Hobbit WILL be made first to see what the interest is. The hobbits, dwarves, and Orcs will be CGI, not live actors.

Lucas/Spielberg will not be purchasing rights to the films.

Some casting is complete, but I am afraid to say more about that. Sean Connery is playing Gandalf.

Then there is this picture here which is MAGIC in my opinion. This captures Peter as a young geek in training. I've got pics of me as a young Creature from the Black Lagoon, there is this neighborhood kid I'm turning into a Kong nut who dressed up like Kong for Halloween. Ahhhhh, the fevered mind of a geek, with the ability to become their passion. I love it. Isn't he great in that costume... which was made of "CREPE HAIR"!!!! Amazing!!!
