Mango looks at BOWFINGER

Well, going way back we've had Quint writing a review of the script (which he enjoyed quite a bit. Some of the early reviews were not all that positive, but as the process has continued it's gotten better and better. Ultimately... ya know, it's a Frank Oz film, and for my buck that means something. I've really enjoyed his films thus far, and I hope to enjoy this one as well... How about you?

Just got back from a cast & crew screening of the new Steve Martin/Eddie Murphy movie, BOWFINGER, and it wasn't too bad to be honest.

The film was directed by Frank Oz, and written by Steve Martin, and it's exactly the kinda movie you'd expect from either one of them. It's your typical Steve Martin movie. The humour is no different than any of his other movies, so it did have a few laughs. It was definitely enjoyable, and it'd be kinda nice to see people actually going to this movie. It opens at the end of July, so it'll probably get lost beyond all the EYES WIDE SHUT/STAR WARS/AUSTIN POWERS 2 hype, but oh well.

None of the stars were there. Frank Oz and Bernie (whatever) got up and said a few words before the film. He assured us that it was finished, and it'll open in the summer. No trailers of course. Friggin' Universal. Anyway...

I think a lot of people forget how funny Eddie Murphy is. This guy is a COMEDIAN. And he's funny, too, which is always a plus, and he's much funnier and enjoyable to watch here than he was in LIFE.

BOWFINGER really came together nice, I thought, and it was just fun to be able to sit back and actually enjoy what I'm watching on the big screen.

I know I left out some things, but hey, it's late.
