Well, here's a a quick word on the next project we'll be looking at Denise Richards in before her Bond experience. I haven't been following this film too closely, but... if you've seen it... Let me know! Here ya go...
I just saw Drop Dead Gorgeous at the San Francisco Intl.' Film Fest. It was a riot. The print was a working copy and the movie is finished except the soundtrack is being changed. Its a mockumentry of a small town Minnesota Beauty Pageant. Sort of a cross between Waiting for Guffman, Serial Mom, Fargo and Smile with a little bit of Something About Mary thrown in for good measure. Every frame is packed with humor and sight gags. Kirstie Alley plays Denise Richards (Wild Things) wealthy mom and wants to do everything she can to make sure her daughter wins the pageant. Ellen Barkin is hilarious as the trailer trash mom of the tap dancing morgue working Kirsten Dunst (Jumangi) . Barkin lost the crown 20 years earlier to Alley and wants her daughter to win. This is a very black comedy that should appeal to both the Indie crowd as well as Farlley brother fans. Parts of the film are a little obvious but then the movie goes over the top and more than makes up for its flaws. I understand that the current trailer that New Line put together is really bad ( One audience member said it was so bad that He wouldn't have seen the film if he didn't already have a ticket) but the Director, who used to work on MTV's The State, is making a new trailer that will be shown before Austin Powers 2. I loved this film and so did the rest of the audience. I can't wait to see it again.
Rick (who really misses Ilsa)
