Alrighty you UK-ers, a cast member from this low budget Thriller has dropped us a line on the whens and wheres of this movie's screening. Sounds possibly interesting so I you guys in London get a chance to take a look see, tell us what you looked in and saw... ok? Cool. Here's the biased report....
You haven't covered this project before in AICN, but I thought you ought to know about it. The film was being widely talked about at last Fall's RAINDANCE festival in London, where the director gave a talk and showed a work-in-progress trailer for the film.
LIGHTHOUSE is a $3 million thriller filmed last Summer in London. It's stars are up-and-coming virtual unknowns (JAMES PUREFOY from "Feast of July", "Bedrooms and Hallways", RACHEL SHELLEY ("Photographing Fairies"), DON WARRINGTON (Brit tv's classic sitcom "Rising Damp", PAUL BROOKE ("Return of the Jedi") and PAT KELMAN (Hallmark/NBC's "The Odyssey").
It has a really scary premise - prison ship sinks, survivors make their way to a lighthouse for safety, only to discover that the serial killer in the max. security hold of the ship has got there first, has killed the keepers and is waiting for them...
The film is written and directed by a first time feature film director, SIMON HUNTER. It is produced by MARK LEAKE (first credit) and TIM DENNISON ("Beyond Bedlam"). The film has been financed by WINCHESTER FILMS ("Shooting Fish") BRITISH SCREEN and the ARTS COUNCIL OF ENGLAND. At the moment I believe it is looking for US distribution, and will be screening at Cannes.
I have seen some of the rough-cut footage and it looks amazing. There will be a website on www.lighthouse-the-movie.co.uk in a week's time or so (the domain is currently being sorted out), with stills, biogs, articles and the trailer.
The cast and crew screening of the film is going to be on the morning of Sunday May 9th, 10am for 10.30am, at one of the largest cinemas in London's West End, either the Empire or the Odeon Leicester Square. The venue will be confirmed any day now.
How am I connected to the project? Well, let's just say that I am one of the unknown cast members with a major role in the film, and I am looking to become less unknown ;o)
Best wishes,
Elatus
