The origin story expands on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

...says THIS ARTICLE. To my knowledge, there's been no word on the nature of the CGI that'll be used here. Perhaps the same mocap technology deployed on POLAR EXPRESS and BEOWULF? Something entirely different? For a while, indications were this was a live action project. CGI makes a lot more sense...and will almost certainly look far less dopey.
