Crappy remake idea #4988... David Cronenberg's THE BROOD now to be Somebody Else's THE BROOD!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love Cronenberg's early stuff... and his recent stuff, of course... But there's something really disturbing about his very early work, a tone that is so purely Cronenberg that the idea of remaking one of those films just seems silly to me. SCANNERS, VIDEODROME, RABID, SHIVERS... even up to DEAD ZONE and THE FLY, although those both have more in common with his later work than his early work. THE BROOD is a personal favorite. Oliver Reed was the man and he kicked ass in that one. If you haven't seen it, it's about a dude who has a wife committed and begins suspecting her treatment might be a little shady... also, there is a pack of murderous mutant children to fuck things up. So, of course, they have to remake it. They being Spyglass Entertainment who have hired Cory Goodman to write the remake script. He's writing PRIEST and the KUNG FU big screen adaptation. Who will be better than Oliver Reed and Samantha Eggar?
