Uncapie's On The TRAIL OF THE SCREAMING FOREHEAD!!

I am Uncapie!!! Larry Blamire does it again! His latest film, "Trail Of the Screaming Forehead" is a great send up of classic science fiction gems of the fifties like "Fiend Without A Face" and the original "Invasion Of the Body Snatchers." From the opening song, "Trail Of the Screaming Forehead" sung by the "Manhattan Transfer" with drawn, floating foreheads with facial expressions floating through the credits, you know you're in for a fun time. Film begins with an intergalactic spacecraft that puts Ed Wood's pie plates to shame (But, that's part of the movie's charm.), landing on Earth where its inhabitants, foreheads from another planet(When they talk sound like the late, great Paul Frees though voiced by actor Corey Burton.), that are bent on conquering mankind. In the meantime, Dr. Philip Latham(Brilliantly portrayed by Andrew Parks.) is working with his fellow scientist, Dr. Shiela Bexter(The gorgeous British actress, Fay Masterson.) on a formula that will increase the cranial capacity of one's forehead(Where all thoughts come from. Hey, its in the plot.) and become the smartest man in the world. Latham becomes the guinea pig for the experiment leading to disastrous results. The alien foreheads begin to take over the community as two happy-go-lucky longshoremen, "Big Dan Frater" and "Dutch 'The Swede' Annacrombe(Amusingly portrayed by Brian Howe and Dan Conroy)" join forces with a local librarian, "Millie Healy(Alison Martin in a memorable performance; especially when she does that 'must be jelly 'cause jam don't shake like that' bell dance! Wow!) to thwart their plans of world domination. Blamire peppers the film with veteran actors, H.M. Wynatt, James Karen, Betty Garrett and perennial favorites Dick Miller as "Eddie the bartender(His facial expressions say it all and he's a real scene stealer!)" along with a brief cameo by the legendary, 90 year old actor, Mr. Kevin McCarthy. The bright, eye-popping visuals of the movie are striking as if it were shot in Technicolor. Especially complimenting are the impressive set design and costumes that are to be commended to the film's style as well. The stop-motion effects of the foreheads crawling around created by Stephen Chiodo("Killer Klowns From Outer Space") give the movie a delicious fifties flavor. An above-the-title, "Ray Harryhausen Presents" is a perfect touch as well since the great man influenced so many of us when we were children. Its nice to see his name on the big screen again. Lots of typical, fifties-type jargon(Blamire writes this very well.) explaining things that run off into tangents that mean something in scientific, yet matter-of-fact believability, but in two different ways, along with impressive supporting characters including sleazy con-man, "Nick Vassidine(Larry Blamire in a fun role.)" and "Droxy Chappelle(Larry's real-life wife and 'Animalia' from 'Lost Skeleton Of Cadavera;' Jennifer Blaire who also performs a sexy, torch song in the bar in her own voice too.)" make this a fun, enjoyable film all around. If you get the chance, definitely see it on the big screen. The impressive camera work does the film justice. Larry Blamire is clearly a man who is in his element and loves movies. His next film can be previewed at www.darkandstormynightmovie.com or check out his latest works on youtube under "Tales From the Pub" a comedy homage to the old "Next Step Beyond" series. As for "Steam Wars," that's a big budget production set for down the road. I would personally like to see Larry Blamire get this project off the ground involving 1880's technology in a Victorian setting. A departure from his sci-fi comedy element, yet an action-adventure story everyone would enjoy and with Blamire's talent, the sky's the limit. Uncapie
