About Keanu and X-MEN

Today I just heard this... very very very strange rumor, and luckily we have a way of not getting too carried away with it. Keanu won't be playing Wolverine... ok? I don't know where this got started, but the following is where it ends...

The Hollywood Reporter ran a story yesterday that Keanu is set to star in the new Howard Deutch football comedy, The Replacements. Filming begins in late summer. Now how can he be doing this and the X-Men, too (if that shoot starts 7/31)? Well, he can't. And no way is the studio making the Replacements going to lose him to Fox for a supporting role in an event film, or delay filming of their film. Sports films are notoriously difficult, logisitically; pushing filming into an iffy weather season like the fall just wouldn't fly, I'd imagine. That's why Any Given Sunday is shooting in the spring and in a sunny locale; who needs weather problems when you have costars beating each other up? Thus, since even Mr. Matrix can't be in 2 places at once, can we now stop all this "Keanu in the X-Men movie" nonsense?! Please post this little fact before fan backlash against potential casting for this film reaches Keatonian proportions. The sooner Keanu's name is removed the easier it will be for EVERYBODY and the less shit Singer has to deal with (keeping the film on track is a mammoth enough task -- he doesn't need fanboy speculation and criticism derailing him). -- STAX
