While I adore Jennifer Tilly, I haven't yet seen a thing from Vincent Gallo that was... well something that I could even vaguely be prompted to say, "COOL" about. But hey... Tilly is enough to get me to see it. And the 'farmhouse' described below has my interest peaked... So here's a peek from Smithington...
Cord
Well this, I think is going to be one great campy thriller.>I haven't seen the movie yet but I visited the set(their filming right outside Winnipeg). The movie stars Jennifer Tilly (she is the coolest, I couldn't even speak when I met the Bride of Chucky), Vincent Gallo (I saw him but didin't really get to meet him, he kept to himself in his trailer, but he still is a god, he did Buffalo '66) and Darly Hannah (yeah the meremaid from Spash). The plot consists of Tilly and Gallo kidnapping Hannah because Tilly can't spawn childern, fom what they were filming on the day I visted and the day I spied, its hilarlously over-the-top with horror and humor.
I was in awe- I witnessed Gallo have tantrum because he didn't "approve" of his wardrobe, I talked to Hannah about her living in a teepee(she is kind of a flake) and listened to the wisdom that spurted out of the ultra-cool Tilly. For the life of me I cannot remember the director's name. One of the producers said that Cord was originally planned for direct-to-video but he said after they took one look at the cast, they said the pretty sure of a theatrical release.
Also, at one point Tilly had to leave early to have a meeting about an upcoming movie, Gallo asked if it was about "Chuckster's new film" and she replied with a simple yes and then the whole crew was talking about it. The crew reffered to it as "The Son of Chucky" not as the rumoured title "Seed of Chucky".
One last thing the decomposing old farm house Cord is being filmed in is so scary looking that Gallo and Tilly (who both look like a cross between goth and a farmer)just blend in the background. All I hope is that Tilly continues making campy thrillers, shes so damn good at it. I think that is enough info for one sitting, please post, at least the Cord info up, I'm excited about it, it's so quirky, dark and I don't know how to explain it, well look at the three main cast members and you'll get an idea about it. Thanks Harry, please excuse all grammatical errors!
