Well I just scored my 'little big head' toys of Chucky and Tiffany from SPENCER'S Gifts about two days ago and they already decorate my hovel. I enjoyed the hell out of BRIDE OF CHUCKY and I have to say... THE SEED OF CHUCKY... well is just a fantasticly evil title and concept. Here's the Movie Pimp to give us the latest on the flick...
I have some info on the next Chucky flick, at one time called SON OF CHUCKY, now known as SEED OF CHUCKY.
Those of you who have bought/rented and listened to the BRIDE OF CHUCKY dvd, probably heard this stuff. But, considering I haven't seen this info anywhere, I figured I'd send it over. First off, the disc is great. There's two separate commentary tracks. One by the director, and the other has commentary by the writer, Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany), and Brad Dourif (Chucky). In their commentary, they slip up and give away a LOT about the upcoming film.
While I don't exactly remember everything they discussed, I do remember a good enough portion to wet some appetites.
Jennifer Tilly will come back to not only play Tiffany, but to play Jennifer Tilly as well. She will be playing herself! Tiffany becomes obsessed with Jennifer Tilly and wants to transfer her soul into Jennifer Tilly's body. They said Tiffany "goes Hollywood" in this one. That might help explain how she'll go from the burnt look at the end of this one, to a fresher face for the next -- by going the Joan Rivers route ... via plastic surgery! Is it just me, or is Joan Rivers looking more and more like a picture perfect replica of the robot she voiced in SPACEBALLS?! After each piece of plastic surgery, she's looking more and more like that thing. But I digress.
Also, where BRIDE OF CHUCKY was a parody of relationships and played as a sort of NATURAL BORN KILLERS with dolls, SEED OF CHUCKY will be a parody of domestic dramas. Along the lines of ORDINARY PEOPLE or KRAMER VS. KRAMER, as Don Mancini said on the commentary.
They'll be a disfunctional family. Mancini said the tag line would be along the lines of "The Family that Slays Together Stays Together." Is it just me, or didn't they already use that tag line in one of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE movies?
In one particular scene, Chucky wants to make a man of his son. How do fathers usually do this? They take them out on a bonding experience. Usually camping or something, right? Nope. Chucky takes his son on a Killing/Bonding experience, only Junior can't and doesn't want to, so Chucky gets all pissed off that his son can't kill. Leading to the disfunctional family look.
I fucking loved BRIDE OF CHUCKY. It's one of those films where, if you get the humor and you buy into it, you're gonna love it. It's sounding like SEED OF CHUCKY will be more of the same thing. Also, Don Mancini (writer of all the Chucky films) is making his directorial debute on this puppy, so we'll have to see if he can hold a flame to Ronny Yu.
This has been brought to you by the Movie Pimp, telling everyone that the next time they see a movie goer wearing clothing that matches the seats you sit in, then buy that movie pimp a regular buttered popcorn, regular Wild Cherry Pepsi, and a box of Sweet Tarts.
Later aligators...
