Tonnage Talks As the SAVE VERONICA MARS Campaign Hits Its Final Deadlines!!

I am – Hercules!!
Confirming what we already knew, from an Associated Press story that hit the wires Friday:
The [CW], [Kristen Bell] said, has until June 15 to tell the [“Veronica Mars”] producers whether it might be brought back as a midseason replacement. CW spokesman Jeff Tobler confirmed the June 15 deadline.

Fan Deadline Monday, June 11. Because Monday 3 p.m. is the deadline to contribute to the Save Veronica Mars fund, the campaign hit some sort of fever pitch over the weekend, garnering half a ton of Mars Bars, Snickers and marshmallows. (Organizers bought out every Mars Bar in the U.S. within hours, and are reportedly close to exhausting available marshmallow supplies. My suggestion would be to add graham crackers so CW execs can create massive s'mores.) If you want to help push that shipment to a full ton for delivery Friday, you can still add to the load (via contributions to the fast-swelling Mars Bars Campaign pool) until 3 p.m. via this site. (By the way, I sure hope the organizers get the CW address right; I think I’ve seen three different Burbank addresses for CW programming head Dawn Ostroff over the last two years, and I’d hate to see that truck leave its contents at an abandoned building or with the wrong receptionist.) Fan Deadline Tuesday, June 12. The post-Mars Bars plan is for as many “Veronica Mars” fans as possible to buy (for $1.99) “The Bitch Is Back” from iTunes. NOT the Elton John song, mind you, but rather Veronica’s gripping and heartbreaking third-season finale (the one that brought down Logan Echols’ fists on a mobster’s kid, and brought back Jake Kane, Duncan and Lilly’s sinister software billionaire pa). Tuesday, June 12, was chosen as “Bitch Download Day," in part, because Tuesday is the day The CW aired “Veronica.” The goal is to make “The Bitch Is Back” Tuesday’s biggest iTunes download and demonstrate with real money that “Veronica’s” fan base may not be broad, but it is very very very deep. So deep that a lot of fans might even be willing to pay up front for new episodes. If the CW doesn’t pay much attention, parent company Warner Bros., which presumably gets those iTunes download residuals, might. So might DirecTV, which is about to begin transmitting new daily episodes of the supernatural soap opera “Passions.” (Starting this fall, DirecTV’s 101 channel will be the only way viewers can see “Passions.” The idea, one assumes, is to get hardcore "Passions" fans to ditch cable and the Dish Network. Maybe Time Warner Cable might be willing to fight back with fresh "Veronica"?)
