Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Funny this should come in today. I'm dedicating the rest of my day to finishing my HOSTEL set visit continuation. It's a little frustrating sometimes when you're asked to hold your interviews or reviews or (in this case) a set visit until opening week. I think a set report opening week is kind of pointless, but I was able to talk Lionsgate into letting me post a part one report back when I visited the set in October. Now, I've just got to finish the damned thing. Anyway, the movie has started to screen. We've gotten a few "unfinished bootleg" reviews that I'm not going to run. What's the point when the finished movie is screening right now? But this is the first review from a screening that I've gotten. I have seen sites like Slashfilm and Twitch and IESB post their reviews and hopefully Capone weighs in soon. The Austin crew sees it Sunday night. Overall, the word is positive so far, albeit from fans of the first movie. The movie's coming out next Friday and is screening all over the place, so I'm sure we'll have many opinions sent in and contributed by our regulars by the time it hits the screen. Hey Capone, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to see Hostel 2 in advance. It was quite an experience for my brother and me to see the film and meet Eli Roth. Thank you so much! I figured I would do my part and send in a review to AICN. This will be the first review I ever send it. Hope it isn't too awful. Here it goes. First, let me get this out of the way right up front: I thoroughly enjoyed Cabin Fever, I thought Hostel was an excellent step forward, and the THANKSGIVING trailer was all kinds of kick ass in a 2 minute package. Basically, I really dig Eli Roth and what he does. The thing about this film is that the title pretty much sets you up for what is to come. It is called Hostel: Part Two, as opposed to Hostel 2, for a reason. This is a true continuation of the first film. It literally starts off right after the events of the previous film and then proceeds to set up an all new story. Basically, we begin the film by getting to see Paxton's fate after he escapes and gets him some revenge. It only lasts about 10 minutes or so, but it is a pretty cool pay off. From there, the movie sets up the new story which centers around three American girls in Rome. The three girls meet-up with a hot ass model from their art class who convinces them to join her for at some kick ass spa/hot springs. The girls want to know if there is a place to stay and that is how we get to the infamous hostel. What makes this film a bit more interesting and not just a paint-by-the numbers sequel is that we are also treated to the inner workings of the organization that set up these kill fests. That is really the main appeal of this film. We get to meet the two guys who are going to be, eventually, coming face-to-face with these girls in the torture room. It is an excellent way to expand the Hostel universe. The movie spends a great deal of time with the two business men that paid a lot of money to torture these girls. Eli Roth makes sure that these guys are not monsters. It is a really nice touch that adds a lot. As expected, the gore is top notch, the kills are inventive and fun, there are tits, lots of cock (the ladies loved that), and some pretty awesome humor. Hostel: Part Two is the logical next installment for this franchise. It isn't like normal horror movie sequels, which basically make the same film over and over...this gives the audience what they want without feeling like it is just more of the same. Basically, if you enjoyed Hostel or Cabin Fever at all...you'll really enjoy Hostel: Part Two. End of story. If you use this...call me Leckomaniac
