Franka Potential!!
Capone Checks
Into SHIELD 6.8!!

I am – Hercules!!
Some believe “The Shield” better than “The Sopranos,” “Heroes,” “Lost’ and “Galactica” put together! If you’re one of these people? Capone has a post for you!! Beware uninvisotexted spoilers!1 Episode 6.8 Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago with this week's recap of this devastating season of "The Shield." This week begins a three-episode run of Franka Potente (RUN LOLA RUN; BLOW; THE BOURNE IDENTITY) in a major role as the daughter of the Armenian crime organization's U.S. leader. It only takes her two episodes to become a major threat to every cop on the Strike Team. But I'm saying too much too soon. Here is this week's episode, entitled "The Math of Wrath" (in some places I've seen this referred to as "The Man of Wrath," but I'm pretty sure "Math" is the correct title). We meet Potente (I'm sorry, but I cannot figure out what her character's name is) as she is visiting her dying father in the hospital, followed by a quick prayer in a nearby church. Shane approaches her as he is tearing through the organization to find whoever is in charge. She presents herself as that person in her father's absence, pretending that he's out of town. The two work out a preliminary agreement to stay out of each other's way, while Shane agrees to throw a few warnings of impending police raids her way. Sensing trouble between Vic and Shane, Claudette forces the two in a room together, and for her sake they agree to work better together. Yeah right. With Hernan still missing, the Strike Team arranges to passively search for him. It doesn't take long for Vic to find out that the Mexicans are aware there is a mole in the Salvadoran organization, who needs to be dealt with in order for the peace to be maintained between the gangs. Not long after that declaration, the body of a dead, hacked-up Salvadoran is dumped in an alley. The Strike Team fears it is Hernan, but it's not. Hernan eventually gets a message to Vic about a pending gun store robbery the Salvadorans are planning to stock up on weapons. Vic understands that he has to let the robbery happen to maintain Hernan's cover, but still keep the guns out of gang hands. Their plan to do this borders on brilliant. Franka asks Shane to help with a crime spree in Armenian-owned apartment complexes, with a wad of cash as payment for his troubles. He discovers that a string of prostitution rings are being run out of the apartments, and each is being robbed by black guys with guns, and soon Shane is out to find out their identity. It's at about this time that Vic reveals to Ronnie that Shane has files on all their dirty dealings. Aceveda has a meeting with an exploratory group looking into his mayoral candidacy, but his main backer won't give him all his promised funding until the San Marco murders have been solved. It doesn't take Aceveda long to show up at the Barn with the promise of as many resources as Claudette needs to solve the case. Shane brings the identities of the apartment robbers to Franka and finds out that she is only pretending that her father is still her charge. The more we find out about her methods, the more scared we (and Shane) become. Soon after their meeting, the robbers' bodies are found castrated. When he confronts her with this, she gives him the name of the man willing to confess to another murder Shane has been investigating. He tries to explain to her that she's going about things the wrong way by living up to her father's example and bring undue attention to the Armenians. Hyatt confesses to Vic that his so-called "review hearing" is a lie and that Claudette has been lying to him about the possibility that he won't have to retire. Shane and Ronnie finally speak. It's a brief conversation, but it's long enough for Shane to spill to Ronnie that Vic killed Terry Crowley, an incident that Vic kept Ronnie in the dark about. Hernan sends one last message that he has flown to El Salvador. Vic suspects that Hernan fingered the now-dead Salvadoran as the snitch, and may have actually killed him and dumped the body to prove his loyalty. Capone
