So I’m not sure if The Hollywood Reporter or Variety broke this story, since I was at a screening earlier tonight, but whoever did, this is pretty much the textbook definition of cool news.
I grew up reading the TINTIN books. Last year, I watched a great documentary about Herge, the creator of the series, and I was struck again how ripe these stories are for adaptation. These are some of the richest examples of graphic literature ever created, and this plan to make a trilogy of 3D mo-cap CG films would be exciting, even if they hadn’t announced that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson would each direct one of the movies.
When Quint visited the set of WAR OF THE WORLDS, he spoke briefly with Spielberg about the idea of using mo-cap to help bring these stories to the screen. But this new plan... well, these movies can’t get here fast enough.
I am pleased beyond words, and I look forward to following the development of these films closely.
