Ol Ollie is one of the guys I keep in the scope hairs at all times. For me, he's one of the best filmmakers in the business... period, and when he decides to make a GREAT film... he does it. Flat out. He's been in love with the Non Linear Editing world of AVIDS and other tricks as of late... but it should serve him well with this film. Or so I think... let's take a look...
Hey Harry, long time listener, first time caller here. Im so happy that I can actualy contribute to your site, insted of only gust getting info. coolness. anyway.
Well, Oliver Stone has been here in Miami filming scenes for his "behind-the- scenes" football movie "Any Given Sunday" Being an actor, I figure hey, being n extra should be great, maybe I can drop off a few résumé's while Im there, but alas, no no no . . . . so sad. ANYWAY, filming took place at the Orange Bowl, which is called in the film "Shark Stadium" home to the movie's fake team the "Miami Sharks". they fixed up the orange bowl to make it look like this fake place, but thewy forgot to change onre thing: the fact that everything is orange! HELLO! but seriously, it was not the most fun afternoon spent. not too boring either. They were raffeling off cash and prizes - which I did not win :-( - and some of the stars talked to the fans. Now, there wasnt that many fans there. we barly filled up two whole sections. Also, everybody dressed up in Black and White (the sharks team colors). Now for the stars who were chilling with the crowd: LL Cool J, Cameron Diaz (who bent over alot in my direction, thank you), Bill Bellamy. Dennis Quaid waved to the people after every time he filmed a take. James Woods didnt. Jamie Foxx didnt either. Im not sure if Al Pacino or Oliver Stone were actually there - my friends say so - but I didnt see them.
The whole day ran from 10:00 am to 6:00pm. they basically filmed croud reaction, and sound (even though they had pre-recorded crowd chatter). Funny thing, there were fake cardboard "fans" all over the stadium. it was funny as shit. my friends and I wanted to leave with a few, but we got caught and had to return them.
They also filmed Jamie Foxx's character puking all over himself (due to nerves) and Randy Quaid's character being takin off the field. I figure this happens about a half hour into the film - just guessing here. Not much else really happened. i hope this info i usefull. Oh yeah, I also have this little booklet (like a page or two) of info on the film. like a cheesy studio written summery of the film and all that. Hey if you use this, just call me Ned Gump. Later Harry!
