I am – Hercules!!
Marathons are nothing new to MTV, of course, but until now those marathons have always meant repeats.
Starting 1 p.m. Saturday, MTV is running all eight never-before-seen episodes of the eighth (and reputedly final) season of Ashton Kutcher’s celebrity prank series “Punk’d.”
Blame the 500-channel universe we now live in, with outlets willing to go to heroic lengths to stand out a bit. NBC put the entire first season of “Andy Barker” online a few weeks ago, but that was a low-rez affair, replete with commercials one couldn’t TiVo past. And, of course, it was online.
This “Punk’d” gambit is strange and, I suspect, wholly without precedent. What other cable or broadcast outlet has ever disgorged an entire season of new episodes at once?
1 p.m. Saturday. MTV.
