Well folks, here's a report about a possible set of reshoots for THE ASTRONAUT'S WIFE. I've seen a rough cut of this film from a while back, and well... I concur with the concept of a reshoot as the film's pieces were not woven into a gripping ending. In fact... when I saw it, I was at wit's end as for what to do with the film. The characters played by Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron were just so dispassionate in my opinion that I had no clue how to wrap this story up in anyway other than a very lowkey seventies 'supernatural' variety. Hopefully they are improving the film, cause it wasn't quite there when I saw it. Can't wait to see what they do..
Big McKaye here with a short report, last weekend Feb. 27 to 28, New Line assembled principals for "The Astronaut's Wife" in LA for...gasp!...a re-shoot of the said film's ending. How drastically different this is from the original script or why they came upon the decision is not known. But that's the fact, Charlize Theron and Johnny Depp came in for a 2-day reshoot. The film is now slated to open mid-July, perhaps planning to counter attack the no-brainer "event films."
