I am – Hercules!! It seems like all the networks were feverishly developing American telenovelas about a year ago. Brand new network MyNetworkTV, launched in the fall, beat them all to the punch and scored underwhelming numbers. Now you don’t hear so much about the networks developing American telenovelas. MyNetworkTV, for its part, has just announced that it is cutting its five-day-a-week telenovelas back to two nights a week, filling the vacuum with movies and a new “ultimate fighting” show. The critically savaged MyNetworkTV telenovelas may not have represented the most elegant way to introduce the format to the states. The writer on "Desire" was a guy named David Coggeshall, who was a script supervisor for the 2002 version of "The 20,000 Pyramid." The writer on "Fashion House" was somebody named Colet Abedi, who was a "talent producer” on "Celebrity Blackjack" and "Deal or No Deal." Not exactly J.J. Abrams or Rob Thomas, y'know?
