Before you read the following news about SUPERMAN, I thought you should hear reactions from Me and my group of friends. Here they go.
Dad -- "I no longer have any faith in Warner Brothers"
Glen -- "Ya know I shit blood once, uh oh here it comes again"
RoboGeek -- "It's as bad as an idea as opening Tomorrow Never Dies with the Sheryl Crow song instead of the K.D. Lang song."
Harry -- "Oh"
The following bit of hell came from a Chicago Area geek that read it. And in a desperate attempt to purge it from his sight so he throw it across the country. Unfortunately it landed in my email box. Suffice to say this news sucks. Read on.
The following is excerpted from Cindy Pearlman's "The Big Picture" column in the Nov. 27 Chicago Sun-Times:
"...Tim Allen, the star of TV's 'Home Improvement', has talked with Burton about playing the bald villain Brainiac. 'I've told my agents I'll shave my head in a second,' Allen says.'
All I can say is that if this is true, count me out. This project has officially sunk straight down the crapper.
The article also mentions Courtney Cox as Lois Lane, a choice I can live with (although I'd prefer Michelle Forbes still). But Allen as Brainiac? Oh my LORD...
Don't ya just love life? Ya knooooooooooow I reallllllllllly like this ideeeeeaaaaaa. YEAH. We read their comics, we buy the toys, all we want is a damn good movie. There are alot of cool good actors in this world. We have two villians to cast. Ya could go the goofy route and cast Tim Allen as Brainiac and Jack Nicholson as Luthor and make a winky wink Superman film that would not make $300 million domestic. Then you could go and cast Kevin Spacey as Luthor and Patrick Stewart as Brainiac. Oh and instead of Courtney Cox as Lois Lane you could go with LINDA FIORENTINO.
Robogeek says, "Why don't ya get them guys and strap em down in a seat and make em watch that animated WORLD'S FINEST."
Glen says, "Man they don't even know what that shit is..."
To which I say, "GO TO YOUR DAMN ANIMATION DEPARTMENT WARNERS!!!!! GET BRUCE TIMM AND PAUL DINI. PAY THEM, LISTEN TO THEM, FOLLOW THEIR ADVICE."
To which Dad says, "Ya know the Barney balloon in Macy's parade ...." Sorry he was in another room.
Somebody pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeeeeee talk to Jon Peters and Tim Burton. If there is a god in this life, please get them to LISTEN to Paul Dini and Bruce Timm and go ahead and throw in Alan Burnett for good measure. These people understand Superman, Batman, the whole kit and kaboodle far better than ANYONE at DC COMICS, WARNER BROTHERS, and ME. These guys have been busting their ass making the best superhero anythings in the history of the medium for the past 5 years or so. It is still months before yall go ahead. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN. Don't ruin the characters and the property for all time. The fans don't have a positive look on this. Bring in Dini, Timm and Burnett. Give them the power to fix it. They can. They are the only ones. OR DON'T MAKE IT AT ALL. (and that's the saddest damn thing I've ever typed. Can't believe ya made me...)
