It seems like every episode of “Heroes” introduces a new mutant to the mix, but this week we learn that a major character possesses a heretofore hidden superpower. This superpower will, one suspects, remind many a fan of an old David Lynch project.

Mohinder remains superpower-free.
Does Jack Bennett grow an eraserhead?
What? No.
What else is TV Guide not telling us?
Tonight’s episode of “Heroes” is the best yet, and I knew it would be by the end of the first act. If you don’t yet love Claire Bennett, comely self-healing cheerleader, you are going to love her tonight. If you don’t yet love her nerd pal Zack, that’s going to change too. Oh, and it turns out there’s now a copy of Chandra Suresh’s book in Odessa, baby!
How does Claire’s high-school homecoming turn into “an event marked by tragedy and change”?
It’s a big episode. Lots of the major characters converge on Ando, Claire and her dad in Odessa.
Is Sylar one of the major characters converging on Odessa?
He is. And we get a much better look at him.
If Sylar’s involved, are Matt and Audrey hot on his trail?
No, Matt and Audrey are entirely absent this week.
Is this the episode in which Peter saves the cheerleader and saves the world?
Claire definitely will need the saving before episode’s end. But in the teaser, Nathan takes drastic action to keep his brother out of harm’s way.
Does Nathan try to save the cheerleader in Peter’s place?
He does not.
Do we learn this week why saving Claire will save the world?
We do not.
Do we not learn because Claire is not saved?
That would be telling.
Does Hiro return?
The whereabouts of Hiro during all the tragedy and change remains a mystery at episode’s end. Presumably we’ll learn more of his fate in next week’s episode, titled “Six Months Ago.”
I trust Mohinder’s decision to revisit his father’s research proves fruitful?
