We've heard this buzz before, and it sounds as though this film will be excellent competition for THE GREEN MILE (though if that film can hit on all cylinders.... oh man) Well, here's the latest...
As I yawned through this year’s Oscar nominations, all I could think about was next year's - and how many The Cradle Will Rock will be receiving. I went to a screening last week and let me tell ya - it’s totally amazing!!! The best film I’ve seen in years!
We’re talking Best Director, Writer, Art Direction, Cinematography, Costume Design, Editing and while the score wasn’t done yet, it’ll probably get that too!!!
I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie that was so smart and funny and political and entertaining and smart. There’s so much going on - so many characters and little story lines yet none of them get lost. The pacing and tone are set in the first shot and never let up.
As for the cast, they may have to come up with a special ensemble Oscar! Emily Watson is God! Bill Murray is amazing! John Turturro is great. Hank Azzaria surprises. Joan Cusack turns in yet another unforgettable turn. Rueben Blades is fabulous. Cary Elwes and Angus MacFadyen are hysterical. Vanesa Redgrave is stunning. I could go on with the rest of the star studded cast, but you get the idea!
The final shot in the film is so awesome, so jolting, you can hardly get out of your seat. Just knowing this movie’s coming out in the fall will enable me to sit through a summer’s worth of Hollywood crap!
