I'm not going to vouch for this rumor, and it's certainly nothing I can confirm... BUT ya know, this film has the most wonderfully off kilter rumors in the world about it. From the Harvey Keitel hair gel on the back of Nicole Kidman rumor to the barber parting the rear hills of Tom Cruise... we've just heard one thing after another. And usually we see and hear everything and the kitchen sink, but now.... we move to LAMPSHADES!!! That's right folks, we got a rumor on the LAMPSHADES that were NOT used in EYES WIDE SHUT. Now... if that doesn't have you laughing... then it's too tough of a room for me... Here ya go...
Just thought I would add something I heard to the Eyes Wide Shut rumour mill. I was at dinner the other night with a few people and one woman I know (who is not a film buff - which adds weight to her story) says that around two years ago some art assistant or such like contacts her and asks her to design some weird and wonderful lamp shades for a film called Eyes Wide Shut. The person at the end of the line says that it will be a recurring theme throughout the film ... None of her designs got taken up, and she didn't know that the ubermeister Kubrick was involved but maybe it's another 'Barry Lyndon candlelight scenario' ? Can't wait for this film ... probably his last ...
