Harry here with Johnny. Now I don't know if ye folks out there are to familiar with DANGER GIRL comics, but well.... they're a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. I heard this film's progress was killing CHARLIE'S ANGELS, which is fine by me because I think it's a bit tiring (the sheer amount of television-to-film projects out there), plus this film sounds cooler...
Hello fellow journalistic junkies,
I managed to get some breaking New Line Cinema news for you! Don't ask me from who or how :)
First up is the comic book inspired DANGER GIRL. My best guess is that it's moving forward because the script is making the rounds. I read the whopper this afternoon and man is it a WHOPPER!
The script is written by Andy Hartnell, the same writer who does the comic book, and comes in at a massive 158 pages. "My" copy was dated "REVISED JANUARY 4, 1999." It's a great script! And probably the most descriptive I'd ever read. Very blueprint, down to the temperature and humidity of the jungles and the inches of snowfall. It starts out with a bang, ends with a bigger bang. Action from start to finish. Lots of humor, locations, girls, and, well, danger. Good story, good script, great characters, a fun spin that reminds me of the third Indiana Jones film. Actually would be a great movie for those waiting for the fourth. let's hope they don't screw it up.
Next up is Austin Powers 2. There are rumblings of moving this picture back a week to June 18th. I think we all know why...
Then we have Blade 2 and Spawn 2. Both pictures are trying to move forward, but the problem is that they're both hitting exactly the same demo, and are trying to beat each other out the door. I think you'll be surprised to hear that Spawn 2 is actually the one out front at the moment.
Sorry I don't have any LOTR news!
