This bit just crossed FATHER GEEK'S desk here at AICN headquarters. Its nice to know that some action is occurring on the project. Take your time Warners and give us all a project we can get into...
Warner Bros. is fast zeroing in on a director for its new "Superman" film after Tim Burton dropped out. The leading candidates, according to sources close to the project, are "Elizabeth" helmer Shekhar Kapur, who is also attached to direct Bel Air Entertainment's "Steinbeck's Point of View"; "Con Air's" Simon West; and "Blade" filmmaker Steve Norrington.
Nicolas Cage is still connected to the latest retelling of the "Superman" story. But sources said whoever directs, it could be a while before the movie goes before cameras since the screenplay is being developed. Meanwhile, Cage is going ahead with Jerry Bruckheimer actioner "Gone in 60 Seconds." Reps for Warners declined comment.
