Folks, I'm dying to see SLEEPY HOLLOW, I'm sorry, but the more teeny tiny whispers I get, the more I perk up for this one. I really can't express how cool I think that project is going to be. Sigh... Well, Chow-Yun Skinny here is looking out for us within that gigantic mountain of madness that Lovecraft loved so... So let's get on with it...
200 CIGARETTES
I saw 200 Cigarettes recently on a VHS COPY. That kinda sucks, but oh well. It was all right, and I really liked Christina Ricci, but it wasn't great. The script was something Ollie Stone had passed on to the director whose name escapes me- Lisa something-Garcia, though I'm sure you know it. I'm not suprised Stone didn't make it- it's not the kind of edgy stuff he usually does. And if he did it, he probably would have rewrote it, and added some butt-f***ing or something. Overall, not bad, though on the other hand, I'd never badmouth Christina Ricci. She's too cool.
ELECTION
The Matt Broderick movie. I've hoped this would be the movie to bring him back, after Godzilla. I don't know if you read the script, but it's pretty cool. Reese Witherspoon is running unopposed for Student Council prez, so Matt Broderick, a guidance counselor, gets a popular football player to run against her. It was pretty funny, and Matt Broderick was good, though I hope Inspector Gadget doesn't mess him up, since the trailers uck so incredibly bad. Inspector Gadget could be so cool, though from what I've heard, it doesn't sound too cool. Back to ELECTION, I like Reese Witherspoon. She was great in Freeway, and she was great in Pleasantville, and here she's also good. Hopefully, she won't end up in any more stuff like Twilight. I've met a couple of times, and she's pretty nice (though it could've been a front because she was trying to impress for a job).
PAYBACK
Saw Payback. I like Helgeland's better. I've tried to find out who Gibson's guy was (or if it was him), and though I'm not high up enough that they'll tell me straight out, someone told me Gibson pretty much did it himself, even if there was a guy. If there was a guy, he was definitely doing what Gibson wanted. PAYBACK was still pretty cool, though stuff they added, like the explosions, looks cool and all, though it isn't really necessary.
SLEEPY HOLLOW
I've seen some dailies for this. The script, as you said, is great. Walker is a great writer, and this is just as cool as Seven, and I like more than 8MM, though I think that's pretty cool too. Just the IDEA in 8MM, of what the guys do to the girl, is so sickening it just makes me squirm. I'm not sure if you've read the script, but it's cool.
BACK TO S.H., I saw some dailies. Christina Ricci is really good, and Depp is cool as always. Casper Van Dien, who I know you're a fan of (shame he was in Tarzan- what the hell was that?!?), is looking prety good. I really didn't like him in Starhsip Troopers at first, but I came to really like that movie the 2nd time. Tim Burton is the man, and he gonna be back with a vengeance with this. It's a shame Mars Attacks didn't do better. I think that it is so much better than people give it credit for.
X- THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES
This is gonna be real coo. I got a copy of the script from a friend ar Dreamworks. It's really cool, and it looks like, from what he's told me, that Depp and Winona are gonna probably both do it.
DEFECTIVE DETECTIVE
Terry told my boss that the producer who has the script is being a real dick as far as trying to get it going. That was a while ago, and I haven't spoken to him in a little while, though if I do, I'll tell what I know.
THIS IS CHOW YUN-SKINNY CHECKING OUT.
