Remember that bad review of "BLADE"? Well the Duke of New York, A#1 thinks differently. He told me that he had seen several scenes of mega-cool "Jackie Chan/John Woo style violence" in the BLADE. And then I get a report from Lo Pan, who's been looking for a cool green eyed babe for about 300 years, and hadn't found chick to fit the bill. Man, the dude's been doing something wrong. Ol Jack Burton told me, "Harry," that's what he always called me, then he was picked up by a two headed Roc and flown to Kong's Island. Strange story but it doesn't make any sense. On to the BLADE.
I was surprised to read the review of "Blade" on your web page, surprised and disappointed. I have managed to see a couple scenes from "Blade". One of which is an extended battle with an army of vampires in a subway station and it is quite simply one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The rest of the film would really have to be awful to merit such a bad review because that sequence is awesome. It's about ten minutes of the fastest moving, bloodiest, jaw-droppingest action you've ever seen. Definately in the Hong Kong mold, it out-John Woos the best John Woo. Plus there's Tracy Lords running around drenched head to toe in blood. Amazing. I hope the rest of the film holds up. The only problem is I don't know if it will ever get past the MPAA.
Well, I think that sounds about as cool as it gets. Sign me up, I'm in for some hardcore blood-n-guts action of the Savini-Bottin-Herschel Gordon Lewis variety. Bring on the karo syrup and the hershey chocolate syrup and Red Dye #5, I'm ready for that arterial action.
