Hit TV show Highlander: The Raven, a mere ten weeks since its premiere in syndication, has prompted a small group of fans to develop a quickly growing, one-of-a-kind series fan club. Exclusively an online project, the Ravenite-Fans of Nick Wolfe Pack (the RFWP) offers totally non-obligatory membership not only to devout enthusiasts of Highlander: The Raven (called "wolves"), it also allows membership for a branch of tree-hanging, middle-of-the-road potential fans, humorously known as "The Possum Pack." In other words, everyone who watches the show is welcome.
The RFWP is not your standard, run-of-the-mill fan club -- it does not honor the actors of the series, but its characters. It does not admonish strict membership rules -- the only requirement to join is the expression of a desire to watch the show. The club's only purpose is to show the potentially enormous fan support worldwide for Highlander: The Raven by offering its members a unique form of online entertainment and information about the show.
Since the club's inception a mere month ago, the site itself has had nearly two thousand hits, and the membership is growing daily. To coincide with the return of first-run Highlander: The Raven episodes this week, a recently organized campaign among its founders has begun to enhance membership; provide its site with appealing "members only" acitvities (such as a Highlander: The Raven trivia game and a Wolfe Pack Scavenger Hunt), as well as a solid archive of series interviews, and its very own forum for member use; and the onset of a monthly online newsletter about the workings of the club and all its members due for its first online publication February 1.
Highlander: The Raven continues the story of the Immortals begun in 1986 with Gregory Widen's hit film Highlander, starring Christopher Lambert, and continuing as a successful weekly series in Highlander: The Series, starring Adrian Paul. Elizabeth Gracen delightfully keeps alive her original character from The Series as Amanda, and co-stars with Paul Johansson, new to the Highlander universe, as the mere mortal Nick Wolfe, for whom the fan club was named.
