Wow, a project that Woody Allen is starring in that isn't called Woody Allen Project 99 or something like that. Cool. I'm a fan of Woody's film work, it's just one of those quirks of mine. I don't often go on neurotic rants in reality, but there is something purely wonderful about his neuroticism that brings a smile to my face. As a result, I always have my eyes on whatever it is he's doing next, and well... Here's a project that he just stars in... I'm there.
Yello...
Woody Allen is to play the lead as a basketball commentator in a new flick called 'Loud and Clear' which is for once NOT directed by himself! This sports-comedy will be produced by DreamWorks and scripted by Don Rhyder.
Woody Allen, being famous for only wanting to star in his own films, only agreed to join the project because he's always been a big fan of the New York basketball team Knicks. Supposedly he'll ttry and draw the qualities of several real-life commentators in his role as an old-timer in the trade, who's assigned to work with a controversial newbie -- a younger man who is both over-geared and vulgar and therefore eventually is threatened with a permanent microphone grounding. According to Variety, DreamWorks hope to give this role to comedian Chris Rock, who when he was young, had Woody Allen as a declared role model.
'Loud and Clear will be shooting in New York during spring and summer 1999, thus allowing Woody to start his annual 'Directed by/Produced by/Edited by/Catered by/Starring Woddy Allen' flick sometime during fall '99
