Yesterday, Casting folks ‘round the globe received a fax about the casting for LORD OF THE RINGS. I haven’t seen this document, but below is some information that a source claims came from this 6 page document.

Well here are some cool news that mom brought home from work with her. She works as a casting agent and she got this big document at work about Lord of the Rings. She brought it home to study tonight, but she is in bed already and I thought I would give you a glimpse at it’s information. Everything is right off the sheets, I wish I had scanner so I could just do that, but I not have that. I will type as much as I can, and maybe do more tomorrow. That’s if mom not catch me.
The Producers are Peter Jackson and Tim Sanders. Peter Jackson is listed as Director. He is also a screenwriter along with Fran Walsh, Stephen Sinclair and Philippa Boyens.
The USA Casting Directors are Victoria Burrows and Scot Boland with Jenne Herbst as an associate and Sonja Lopez as an Assistant. In the UK the casting director is Hubbard Casting. In Australia it is Mullinars Casting Consultants. In New Zealand it is Liz Mullane. And it says it shoots from September 1999 to March 2001 in New Zealand.

I askd mom about that earlier tonight she said people could send pictures and tapes and career history things and talent stuff there. I’m gonna try to be a Hobbit person, I would make a cute hobbit I think.
Shooting for THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING begins September 19, 1999 through February 17, 2000.
Shooting for THE TWO TOWERS begins May 21, 2000 and through October 12, 2000.
Shooting for THE RETURN OF THE KING starts October 29, 2000 through March 22, 2001.
It says that HOBBITS are normal height actors that can act against blue screen and react to a piece of tape. The four Hobbits will be young and fit around 5ft 6inches. They’ll need to be around the same age. Frodo and Sam will be older than Merry and Pippin. It says they’ll have to wear prosthetic feet that will be a little larger than normal and should be speaking like the British.
For HUMANS, they’ll need to have to ride Horses (that’s fun) and they can sound either American or British.
Elves- they go into this whole thing about how they are ‘the First Born of the peoples of Middle-Earth’ and on and on. It goes on to say they are the ‘fairest of all earthly creatures, tall and slender, graceful but not strong.” But then the go on about their hearing and sight, but I don’t think they will make you have 20/20 and good hearing, I think that’s just poetic license. Maybe they will give you eye and hearing test. It say that the actors will have to wear ‘some prosthetic make up, maybe ears and contact lenses.’ And they need to sound British.
Dwarves- they are short and stocky, about 4 feet in height. But they is thinking that they might do the Hobbit thing and reduce them with the computer to have a more big choice in actors. They need to sound British too.
I do a good British accent, but my mom told me I am too young for the movie, that sucks. I like these books and it’ll be a cool movie I think.
Then there are a whole bunch of stuff on each of the characters I know in the books, but it’s alott of typing and I’m not too good. But it goes into the characters of each one of them and what they are looking for in the characters but I am not wanting to type it all, it is 5 pages. I try to get it all to you Harry.
It looks like there are different grades of casting here. For Frodo, Sam Wise, Pippin, Merry, Bilbo and Gimli they don’t ask for stars to play them. But for Aragorn, Gandalf, Saruman, Boromir, Denethor it says ‘also submit star names’. Then for Faramir, Theoden, Eowyn, Arwen and Legolas it says to ‘Please Submit Star Names’. And then for Elrond it says just, “Star Names”
There lots a details about the characters and what they are like, but we all know what they like right? But if you want more info Harry I’ll write it for you cause you are so cool.
