Meanwhile Quanah Parker here, provided some more news on the Custer front, which seems to confim the above. So take a gander why dontcha...
Brad Pitt has dropped out of plans to play Gen. George Armstrong Custer in a movie.
The film is based on a novel by Michael Blake, who wrote Dances With Wolves. The book is called Custer Marching to Valhalla, but no doubt some simpler title will be used for the movie, since the average American film-goer has no idea what Valhalla is and thinks Custer is a dessert. Don't get me started.
Anyway, we don't know why Pitt scrapped the gig in the New Line Cinema production. I hear the script has a lot of stuff about George and his wife, Libby, as well as a the predictable big battle scene at the end.
He is keen, however, to do this other flick, playing Kris Kristofferson in this new Janis Joplin "biopic." Melissa Etheridge plays the lead.
