Well, I remember when this film was cast a while back, but I hadn't heard that much since. But with Rose McGowan and Rebecca Gayeheart... well... gosh my heart begins aflutterin'! Here we go with the look, which is completely spoilerish. So, if you want to know exactly what it is about, then read. If ya just want to hear the opinion on the film, this fella thought it was an 'OK' movie, and described it as 'entertaining'. So there ya go....
Dear Harry, I thought that I would send you an email about the new Rose McGowan film "Jawbreaker". I work for a popular rock band that was asked to be included on the soundtrack so we were sent a rough avid edit to watch about a month ago. Basically the movie tries to be a 90's version of "Heathers." I have forgotten most of the characters names but I remember almost everything else. It centers around the four most popular girls in school two of which are Rose Mcgowan and Rebecca Gayheart. On the morning of one of the popular girls birthday the three other girls break into her house to kidnap her and take her out to breakfast. McGowan puts a giant jawbreaker in her mouth to gag her, but when they arrive for breakfast they open the trunk of the car the girl is dead. After school the girls take the body back to the dead girls house who's parents just happen to be away. They put her back in her room and try to make it look like she was raped and murdered. But while doing this a girl named Fern who is the geek of the school shows up to drop off the dead girls homework as the principle requested. She saw what was going on so McGowan decides to make the girl popular so that she won't tell on them. Fern agrees and they wind up changing her name to "Violet" and she becomes the new rage of the school. Gayhearts character didn't agree with any of this and thought that they should just go and tell the police what they did, but McGowan wouldn't let her. So with "Violet" as the new popular girl in school Gayheart now became the outcast. Then Pam Grier Shows up as a Detective to question the girls to find out the real story. McGowan tries to stay one step ahead of everybody else by even going out and picking up a strange looking man (played by Marilyn Manson with no make-up and a mustache) and has sex with him in the dead girls bed, "so I guess there will be real evidence there for the police." As Violet becomes more popular McGowan grows very mad at her, and then finally plasters the school with posters telling everyone that Violet is actually Fern, she then goes back to being unpopular. Gayheart and Fern finally figure out how to tell the rest of the school that McGowan is a murderer. The whole movie ends at the prom with McGowan being exposed and the whole school throwing their corsages at her. Overall it was an OK movie, it wasn't good enough for the band that I work for to be included in the soundtrack but some of the guys did think it was entertaining.
