Word has reached me via Wang, that ol Jack Burton (aka Snake Plissken [aka Kurt Russell]) will be becoming the next Clancy hero. The mountain studio is looking to build a franchise out of Tom Clancy's latest hero creation in WITHOUT REMORSE, and who else to look to besides a way cool bada** like Kurt. Wang was very detailing in his letter about how Clancy wants to ignore the Jack Ryan character and write books (which could obviously be developed into films) for this new character that Russell is slated to be. The plan is to go with WITHOUT REMORSE as the first film to star this character, but if that story doesn't mesh into a good script, Clancy will burn the midnight oil and so will the screenwriter to bring a new cool Russell character into the world. No screenwriter or director or anything else is set to work on this now. It's Clancy's, Russell's and Paramount's latest toy.
