I love little surreal moments in life like this. It's such a familiar scene, you are at a comic shop or a toy store or at a theater. Places of geekdom, when all of a sudden who should appear but... Well, the reason I'm putting this up today, isn't on account of it being a slow news day, quite the contrary. No, actually I'm putting this up so that all of you, the next time you walk in a comic shop, well... you might just get a cold chill, hairs may stand up on your neck. One never knows what you may find... eh?
This really isn't a scoop, more of a little anecdote. I know you've been to LA, but I'm not sure if you been to 'The Golden Apple' on Melrose Avenue?
Anyway, I stopped in to stock up on some 'Preacher' back issues when all of a sudden my brother ribs me and says "Isn't that Sam Jackson??"
And lo and behold it was Sam Jackson, Sam Jackson checking out comics in a comic book store! I knew he was cool, but this was TOO cool! So at the register the owner was kind enough to inform me that they just received the Sam Jackson 'Mace Windu' figure and only ONE was left!
Sam actually was there buying THREE himself!!! (You think George would've given him a case or something!?!?!) So as he's proceeding to the register I quickly introduce myself and shake his hand. And then ask him to sign the figure...
to which without skipping a beat he replies (in perfect character), "HELL NO!! THEY'RE TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE!" (at $40 BUCKS a pop, he's right!) And he grumbled on how I would sell it for five times that amount.
He graciously signed it for me and I went on my way! BTW He has an incredible signature!
Sorry I didn't ask about any info pertaining to EP1, another customer did but Sam dodged that bullet!
Thanks, and keep up the good work,
LING
