Hey folks, it seems the good ol NRG is testing the OFFICE SPACE trailer for 20th Century Fox via a pair of groovy glasses at a few college campuses around the country. The film is of interest because of MIKE JUDGE, the creator of BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD and co-creator of KING OF THE HILL, and this will be his first foray into the world of live-action film-making. The movie was shot here in Austin around the same time that Robert was shooting THE FACULTY. Word came in back then of taking over an office complex and some sort of Ol Aligator Grill or something, if memory serves. Expect trailers sometime in the next few weeks...
So I'm sitting in the dining room of the student union of my college, when a guy walks up to me and my friends and asks us if we'll watch a trailer for a new 20th Century Fox Film and tell him what we think. I say yes, of course, so he straps a pair of TV glasses to my face and plays a trailer for me. It was for a movie called "Office Space." The first thing you see is the Fox logo being sent through a fax machine. Then it announces that the film is from (I forget in what respect), Mike Judge "The creator of Beavis and butt-head and the co-creator of King of the Hill". Anyway the movie seems to be about a working stif who decides that he's sick of working for this terrible corporation (it seemed like a Microsoft/IBM type of thing), so he decides he's going to try to get fired. they show him doing all sorts of terrible stuff, but it truns out that they promote him and fire a bunch of his friends instead. After that he decides to take the company down from the inside, so he contacts one of the guys who was fired (an indian whom i think was named "Sanjay") who has developed a virus which can take the company down. It shows a montage of images including the building going down in flames. Anyway, the movie seems to have Jennifer Anniston in it in some regard, and there's lots of images in the beginning and end of the main character stuck in traffic. The trailer uses the song "Rockefeller Skank" by Fatboy Slim, which got it stuck in my head, of course. It was incomplete, because at the end it said stuff like "cast card here". Afterward, I told the guy i'd see it, because it did look funny, and I dig Mike Judge. I snuck a look at his card and it looks like they're doing similar tests in several major cities. That's all. I hadn't heard of this project beforehand, so I figured it warranted a mention. Hope it's useful.
