Harry here... Father Geek and Glen will be looking after the site this weekend and Monday while I'm in the San Francisco Bay area. Specifically Cupertino. So... if you are in Cupertino, drop me an email with your phone number and perhaps we can hang out on Sunday, I have nothing else going on. I'm going for the big A BUG'S LIFE gala, kinda strange since I've already reviewed it. But I did see a work print, so I can't wait to see the final product. Well, before I go, here's Elston's fantastic WEEKLY RECAP for all of us that were only downloading the Prequel trailer all week...
ELSTON NOTE: This week's recap is to inform you on what is going on
outside of the big trailer. I hope I didn't miss anything.

(in talks)
* Ian Hart is in final talks to join Neil Jordan's THE END OF THE AFFAIR with Ralph Fiennes, Julianne Moore and Stephen Rea.
* Brad Pitt is in talks to star in Cameron Crowe's next untitled pic.
HARRY NOTE: I've been hearing whispers in the woods that Cameron Crowe's flick has the "best script" Spielberg has ever read. And that it concerns a reporter that follows the WHO around. Or at least that's what the rumor mill says!!!
* Elijah Wood is in talks to star in indie pic A BALL IN THE HOUSE about a boy in a dysfunctional family.
* Jennifer Lopez is in talks to play the female lead in Paul Verhoeven's THE HOLLOW MAN.
HARRY NOTE: Coooooool! She'll very much be playing a Linda Hamilton-esque part in this one. She's gonna have to be tough though. This could really be a great film if Verhoeven breathes life into it instead of merely trying to shock us.
* LL Cool J is in final talks to join Oliver Stone's ON ANY GIVEN SUNDAY.
DIRECTOR/WRITER ATTACHMENTS
* Reginald Hudlin (BOOMERANG) will direct YOU BETTA WATCH OUT, a Christmas comedy about a group of inner city kids taking Santa hostage, for Christmas '99.
* Julie Delpy will direct TELL ME, a film she wrote with Kelly Souders.
* Steven Speilberg and Tom Cruise are in talks to collaborate on the sci-fi epic MINORITY REPORT about a futuristic cop in the "Pre-crime division" who is charged for murder he has yet to commit, and he must solve his own case.
* F. Gary Gray (THE NEGOTIATOR) will direct THE CROWDED ROOM--a project James Cameron was developing in 1988 about a man with a multiple personality disorder.
* Haris Orkin wrote OTHER PEOPLE'S WISHES about a man who steals pennies from a wishing well and is forced to live out other people's wishes. The story will be a film for Village Roadshow Pictures and the Canton Co.
MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTION TIDBITS
* Due to high costs Disney is temporarily shutting down the project BICENTENNIAL MAN despite the involvement of Robin Williams and director Chris Columbus.
* 20th Century Fox has picked up the rights to MASTER AND COMMANDER based on the series of high seas action novels by Patrick O'Brian. They're hoping for a potential franchise.
* Madonna will produce GHETTO SUPERSTAR for her MADGUY Films.
REMAKE NEWS OF THE WEEK: Will Smith is in talks with Warner Bros. to star in a remake of A STAR IS BORN. The sexes are reversed in this one with the male (Smith) falling in love with the female superstar. Hip hop/R&B artist Lauryn Hill is being eyed for the female role.
Director Alan Pakula was killed in a New York car crash. He was 70. Pakula's directing credits include ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, KLUTE, SOPHIE'S CHOICE, PRESUMED INNOCENT, PELICAN BRIEF and DEVIL'S OWN. On top of those he also produced TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Pretty impressive record. I'm sure he will be missed.
The recap this week contains a lot of female news: Madonna producing, Julie Delpy writing/directing, the female role being the superstar in A STAR IS BORN and lots of casting. *** I'd love to know more about ALL THE RAGE. Just look at the cast. *** OTHER PEOPLE'S WISHES seems like a pretty cool concept. *** Speilberg/Cruise teaming up on MINORITY REPORT? What are your thoughts on this? *** Cameron Crowe is back to work possibly with Brad Pitt attached. Again, Crowe's project is very secretive. *** This week's recap is to let you know what is going on outside of the big trailer.
Have a good Thanksgiving. I'm sure most of us will give thanks for Mr. Lucas and his pilgrims from a far away galaxy. Enjoy.
