DINOSAURS with a pic from it and Fantasia 99 and Mulan!!!!!!

Ok, you remember that radio show that had an interview with D.B.Sweeney about DINOSAURS? Well here was a listener that wrote a bit more than the previous listening post agent. In Addition at the bottom of this update is a picture sent in from Ruby's Gem, that has a shot of a dinosaur from the film, plus a shot from FANTASIA 1999 and MULAN and one from Hercules. I can only guess this was some sort of promotional or recruiting thing from Disney. GORGEOUS imagery though. I wish I had more images from Fantasia 1999 and Dinosaurs, I'm dying to see more on these films. Of course a shot of Glenn Keane's Tarzan character would be fantastic. Personally, these early shots get me real excited. More so than trailers even. Anyway, here's the info on DINOSAURS...

And now for some happier Harry movie news. Even samurai in the service of movie geekdom occasionally listen to the radio, and I must admit that one of my own guilty pleasures is the KROQ-FM version of LOVELINE (familiar to all thanks to its national late-night-guilty-pleasure incarnation on MTV). D. B. Sweeney was the guest Thursday night and blabbed numerous details about Disney's DINOSAUR, which he said will be released "in two years--a year and a half." Also providing voices are Juliana Marguiles, Joan Plowright, and Alfre Woodard. The backgrounds are being shot in Kauai and elsewhere to represent primordial jungle, but the saurian characters will all be highest-quality CG. Sweeney plays the principal dino, and aarrrggghh--thar be spoilers ahead! So beware. He also blabbed some of the plot. Apparently the Sweeney dino is raised by a pack of lemurs; and subsequently, that dino becomes their savior (Sweeney referred to himself as "the messiah of the lemurs") when a certain little chunk of rock hits a certain pretty green and blue planet, leaving a massively splattered collection of iridium at a certain K-T Boundary. Oh, yes, you read right: I am referring to the "Dinosaur Killer" asteroid strike that occurred some 65 million years ago. Now how's THAT for a killer climax? And through the Sweeney dino's efforts, the mammals are then free to take over higher niches of the ecosphere of the earth. The film is budgeted at over $100 million U.S.

And here's one more somewhat disturbing fact: According to a caller, and Sweeney did not deny this, Disney press junkets are conducted via Disney's private jet, on which all cabin announcements are recorded in the syrupy voice of a certain shirtless rodent. Aaaarrrrggghhh! Make it stop! Make the hurting go away! And yet...Ain't it cool?

May this please you, my shogun. And may the Gods of the Geeks be convinced to rain favors on that sad earthen vessel to which you so charitably refer as a computer.
